Guitar Hero is Going to Ruin My Life

19 03 2008

We just got Guitar Hero here at Indaba (it was a birthday present from someone special) and I can legitimately say that it might ruin my life. I now understand what all the fuss is about – it’s A LOT of fun to play. I also understand the South Park episode far more than I did when I first saw it (even though it was funny to being with).

Wii Watch ‘08

I’m not sure anyone outside the Indaba office cares, but wii’re getting a Wii. The team has been working very hard the past few weeks (months/years), and we finally decided it was time to get a Wii. Actually, I am getting a Wii, but it will be used for Indaba purposes (i.e. breaks from coding, breaks from recording, Guitar Hero, Mario Party drinking games). I had to buy one on eBay because every store in Manhattan seems to be sold out (still), and although Chris said I should stand outside Gamestop and wait for the next delivery, I opted not to. I’d much rather be here in the office working on Indaba…

If you’re in the NY area and want to come play with us (play Wii that is) we’ll let you know when it gets here. We need more distractions at Indaba Music :)

South Park Guitar Hero

8 11 2007

Two weeks ago, Streeter raised some really interesting questions in the Indablog about Guitar Hero, like, why do people spend so much time mastering this video game when they could actually be learning to play the real guitar? I just wanted to point out that in case you haven’t seen it, the new South Park this week examined the exact same issue. Absolutely hysterical. They parodied Guitar Hero, and even threw in a That Thing You Do moment (cmon – you know you like that movie). I can’t find any longer clips on YouTube anymore since the copyright stuff heated up, but here’s a short one of the guys wailing on their plastic axes.
